Code of conduct and fair play

How CPL players protect respectful competition, reliable scheduling, and community trust.

Current version: code-of-conduct-v2. Material changes are published under a new version and require renewed acceptance.

Respect

Treat opponents, teammates, community members, moderators, and the organizer with respect. Harassment, threats, hate, targeted abuse, publishing personal information, and persistent unwanted contact are not permitted. Raise fair-play concerns privately rather than making public accusations.

Chess integrity

Play without engine, human, database, or live-analysis assistance forbidden by Lichess. Official games remain subject to Lichess rules and fair-play enforcement. Do not manipulate game, challenge, result, scheduling, Ready, or no-show systems to obtain an advantage.

Identity and honesty

Your CPL identity is linked to an immutable Lichess account identity. Do not impersonate another person, connect someone else's account, or intentionally mislead CPL about which account is participating. This rule does not create a blanket ban on owning another Lichess account; the linked account used for CPL must remain truthful and authoritative.

Bugs and exploits

Do not exploit software defects, duplicate actions, access mistakes, or inconsistent states. Stop using the affected action and report significant bugs so the organizer can preserve fair records.

Community spaces

The same standards apply in the Global Forum, League Forums, Match Discussions, and Private Team Rooms. A private Team Room is not an exception to the conduct rules. Community participation never changes sporting priority or results.

Proportionate moderation

The organizer may review reports, moderate content, restrict community access, or take proportionate participation action when necessary. Decisions should be tied to the conduct issue and available evidence; moderation does not silently rewrite sporting results. Use Contact for a private conduct concern or escalation.
